Deserved Recognition

Click to see original imageWhen he retired after quarter of a century as sectetary and manager of the Provo Chamber of Commerce years ago, Clayton Jenkins was honored at a community banquet and testimonial. It was a memorable occasion for the man who had played such an important leadership role in the community for so long. There have been many other honors in Mr. Jenkins’ long career of public service. A collection of plaques, medals, and letters attests to this. But the honor he received last weekend through the Provo Rotary Cu and Rotary lntemational must be one of the most appreciated for Mr. Jenkins. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow – an award for outstanding Rotarians established in honor of the founder of Rotary. Presented at the Rotary Club meeting here, it came in the year when Mr. Jenkins will observe his 90th birthday anniversary (next September). He and his wife Nettie are one of Provo’s highly-revered couples and will mark their 66th wedding anniversary in June. Clayton has had a guiding hand in numerous community projects especially during the quarter century he served as secretary and manager of the Chamber of Commerce. ‘Khese were listed in some detail in Sunday’s Herald.
