We’re referring to the Provo concerts of the Armed Forces Bicentennial Band and Chorus scheduled Wednesday in the BYU Marriott Center. The general public is invited, ,with no admission charge. The Bicentennial Band and Chorus will appear here under local sponsorship of The Daily Herald and Brigham Young University as a special event in the twoyear observance of the 200th anniversary of the United States. The band and chorus are made up of top musicians from five branches of the Armed Forces – Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines. The program will include patriotic selections, stirring marches, and favorites from hit musicals for an appetizing blend. As a special touch, the Bicentennial Chorus will present an inspirational medley of Utah favorites. There’ll be a matinee concert at 1:30 p.m. Six school districts in three counties-Alpine, Q Provo, Nebo, Wasatch, Juab and Tintic – will bus nearly 11,000 students. While the students will occupy most of the chair seats, the public is invited also. The evening concert will be at 7:30, with everyone invited. Families are encouraged to attend together. The Marriott Center is a big arena. it would be exciting to see it well-filled. The Bicentennial band didn’t just happen. lt’s formation and national tour amount to a fine contribution by the govemment in the anniversary celebration. bet’s make it a big occasion in Provo!
