{"id":1176,"date":"2011-12-24T18:08:43","date_gmt":"2011-12-25T01:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gashler.com\/nlc\/?p=1176"},"modified":"2015-01-18T18:03:56","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T01:03:56","slug":"stop-crime-before-it-starts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gashler.com\/nlc\/?p=1176","title":{"rendered":"Stop Crime Before It Starts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gashler.com\/nlc\/scans\/Editorials_1971-1975\/Editorial_075.jpg\"><img style=\"margin: 12px;\" src=\"http:\/\/gashler.com\/nlc\/default_thm.jpg\" alt=\"Click to see original image\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>Another civic club has joined in\u00a0the campaign to &#8220;safeguard\u00a0against crime.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Kiwanis Clubs are urging people to protect their homes and families by conscientiously work-ing to &#8220;stop crime before it starts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These are specific suggestions:<\/p>\n<p>Double check the identity of callers you don&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p>Install deadbolt locks on out-side doors.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid dark streets at night.<\/p>\n<p>Stay away from doorways or alley entrances.<\/p>\n<p>Walk purposefully.<\/p>\n<p>See that your children know the ruses of molesters&#8230; and avoid them.<\/p>\n<p>Report suspicious strangers.<\/p>\n<p>Park at night in well-lighted spots.<\/p>\n<p>Keep valuables carried in your auto out of sight.<\/p>\n<p>Lock the car when you leave it.<\/p>\n<p>Always look inside your car before you enter it.<\/p>\n<p>Stop deliveries when you leave for a trip.<\/p>\n<p>Put the door key in a safe (non obvious) spot.<\/p>\n<p>Lock the garage when the car is out.<\/p>\n<p>The Kiwanis message adds &#8220;Your police department can give you tips on preventing almost every kind of crime; tips that work.
