\n Central Utah: The 1975
\n payment deadline will be
\n Mohday,
\n Usually the deadline
\n comes Nov. 30, The counties
\n have extended it this year
\n because the 30th falls on
\n Sunday.
\n It pays to meet the
\n deadline. Under the law, tax
\n payers who fail to pay by the
\n prescribed date will be
\n charged a 2 per cent penalty
\n plus $1.50 publication costs
\n of the delinquent list about
\n Dec. 15. If the’ tax hasn’t
\n been paid by Jan. 15, penalty
\n interest at the rate of 8
\n percent will be applied,
\n Utah County’s total
\n property tax bill this year
\n amounts to about $17,500,00
\n of which about 65 per cent
\n had been paid as of Friday.
\n Monday probably will be the
\n biggest collection day, with
\n some of the largest tax
\n checks expected in the last-
\n minute rush.
\n Countv Treasurer Stanley
\n Walker says Utah County
\n will accept taxes until5 p.m.
\n Monday at the office and
\n mailed taxes postmarked
\n that day,
\n In Juab County, the
\n deadline will be 5 p.m.
\n Monday, according to Erma
\n Goble, treasurer. Total
\n taxes billed amount to
\n $877,720.
\n Taxes assessd in Wasatch
\n County exceed $1 million,
\n according to June J.
\n Wheeler, treasurer, and the
\n deadline is Monday noon,
\n In the event you haven’t
\n received your tax notice, it
\n would be well to check with
\n the treasurer’s office first
\n thing Monday. The
\n responisbility for paying the
\n taxes on property belongs to
\n the owner, even though he
\n may not have received the
\n tax notice.
\n Digging up the money for
\n the annual tax bill isn’t
\n always an easy task – but
\n consider yourself reminded.
