Reflection

My poster focuses on encouraging hydration, an essential aspect of physical health and wellness. Specifically encouraging water consumption over soda consumption, I use the premium soda brand aesthetic to appropriate the type of advertising that companies like Coca Cola or Pepsi use. Soda ads frame unhealthy drinks as seductive and alluring, while water has the health benefits that our body needs. I use Pepsi's colors, Coca Cola's bottle shape, and advertising lingo to reframe their style. Soda ads are everywhere and highly effective, so rather than competing with them, I parody their visual language to reframe the message. Displayed in public spaces, the familiar imagery catches attention, while the punchline nudges viewers towards a healthier habit.
