Mr. Christensen, editor emeritus of The Daily Herald, has been called Utah County’s Senior Patriot, recognized for his stimulating and thought-provoking editorials, patriotic speeches, and service projects. It is said that he always looks at both sides of every issue, but that there are no two sides to his patriotism.

As editor of The Daily Herald, he received a prestigious American Legion award in 1981 for a series of articles he wrote during the Honor America period. The series was carried in many of the 30 Scripps League newspapers and won him praise throughout the nation.

Because of his integrity, honor, and good deeds, Mr. Christensen is loved throughout Provo, where he has lived for 50 years. Provo is his city, and he loves it-just as he loves his country. He praises Provo and writes about it, as exemplified in his recent book entitled Provo’s Two Tabernacles.

Among the many awards Mr. Christensen has received are the two George Washington Honor Medals, presented by the Freedom Foundation of Valley Forge, and the Good Citizenship Medal of the Sons of the American Revolution.
