EPHRAIM – Snow College celebrated its 1985 Homecoming Saturday Oct. 26 with a parade, a football victory, and an alumni banquet highlighted by presentation of five awards.
The nationally-ranked Badger footballers won their eighth straight triumph, defeating Scottsdale Community College of Arizona, 29-7.
President Steven D. Bennion of Snow College presented “distinguished alumni awards” to Ethelyn Peterson Taylor of Salt Lake City, former Brigham Young University faculty member for over 20 years, and N. LaVerl Christensen of Provo, editor emeritus of The Daily Herald. Both were from Snow’s Class of ’34.
Mrs. Taylor is the wife of Henry D. Taylor, a general authority emeritus of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Three “citizens awards” were presented to Ida 0. Donaldson, Moroni; Roscoe Garrett, Nephi, and Keith Stanley Barrett, Salina.
President Bennion presented biographical highlights on award recipients. Each responded briefly, Alumni President Brent Thorne conducted the program, which was followed by a dance.
Many Utah Valley residents attended Homecoming events at Snow, whose enrollment includes about 250 students from this area.
