Click to see original imageL.B. Tackett, publisher of The Daily Herald for the past 25 years, will retire July 1. He will be succeeded as publisher in Provo by B. E. (Bye) Jensen, currently publisher of The Herald Journal in Logan.

J Frampton Collins, advertising director at the Daily Herald, will succeed Mr. Jensen as publisher of the Logan paper.

Mr. Collins will be succeeded in his Provo post by Frank H. Newell, advertising director of The News-Review in Roseburg, Ore. Mr. Newell arrived in Provo today to take over the duties of his new position.

Mr. Tackett, a veteran Utah newspaper executive, has been active in numerous civic service affairs in Provo and in national advertising and newspaper associations throughout his lengthy career. Following his retirement, he and Mrs. Tackett will continue their residence at 1525 Locust Lane, Provo.

Mr. Jensen is a native of Ogden, where his parents now reside. He was graduated from Ogden High School and then entered the service for a three-year tour of duty during World War II. For two years he was stationed in Italy angle France during military operations.

Following his discharge, Mr. Jensen returned to Ogden where he completed his education at Weber College.

The new publisher here was a member of the advertising staff of the Ogden Standard Examiner and then became advertising director of the Daily Inter Lake at Kalispell, Montana. Later, Mr. Jensen was named business manager of the Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff. Five years ago he became publisher at The Herald Journal at Logan.

Mr. Jensen has served as first vice president and director of The Cache Chamber of Commerce in Logan, is a member of the American Legion, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, 40 and 8 and is currently a director of the Cache Training (day care) Center. He also is a member of Logan Golf and Country Club and the Logan Rotary Club.

He is married in the farmer Nanette Christensen. They have four children, Chris, 12; Jeff, 10; Mike, 5; and Patti, 2.

Mr. Newell has been advertising director in Roseburg since February of 1981.

Earlier he was on the advertising staff of the Capitol Journal in Salem, Oregon; from 1949-1960 he was classified advertising manager of the Union-Bulletin in Walla Walla, Washington.

Mr. Newell has been active in the affairs of the Western Classified Advertising Association, having received special promotional awards and recognition from that organization on three occasions.

He is a graduate of Willamette University in Salem.

Mr. Newell is a member of the Rotary Club in Roseburg, the Elks Ledge and Beta Theta Pi.

Mr. Newell and his wife, Susanne, have a married daughter, Georgi Sue Blake, and a son, Frank E. Newell, 13.

Mr. Collins goes to Logan with 28 years of newspaper experience.

He started as a circulation collector and then moved into the advertising field. He has held his present post in Provo for the past four years.

Mr. Collins is married to the former Lucille Farley. They have four children: Larry, 23; Marilu, 15, who completed junior high school this year; Nell, 19, who has completed his first at Brigham Young University; and will be leaving an a mission to Scotland this summer; and Carla June, 11, who has completed the fifth grade here.

Mr. Collins has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints.

ADVERTISING DIRECTOR –  Frank H. Newell, who succeeds J. Frampton Collins as Herald advertising director. Mr. Collins has been named publisher of the Logan Herald Journal.
