Destructive vandalism in the schools of Central Utah takes a heavy toll each year and helps to boost cost. The burglary at the Windsor Elementary School in Orem the other night was an example. The intruder used a mattock to break open a door, and then put the same tool to work to chop two holes in the wall, . at the rear of the school safe. The burglary, which netted only a very small amount of money, was an example of wanton destruction reported in the schools of the area each year. Elsewhere windows have been shattered, plumbing broken, and various other vandalism perpetrated. Law enforcement officers, school personnel, parents and anyone concemed should be on the lookout for clues that will solve any such acts.We suggest harsh penalties for persons found guilty of these crimes against the public.
