DW.Va., would return to their traditional dates George Washington’s Birthday, Feb. 22; Memorial Day. May 30: and Columbus Day. Oct. l2. “lt was for the sake of convenience that the special Monday holiday legislation was created in 1968 bv enactment of Public Law 90-B63,” said Randolph. “I believe my proposal would restore traditional values to our way of life,” Randolph said he is not against three-day weekends. “These can be preserved. but let us not use our nations most important days as a vehicle of convenience. Special weekends could he called worker holidays.” The senator noted that Veteran’s Day already has been restored to Nov. ll rather than the fourth Monday in October.
