The folks in Wasatch County know how to do things up right when it comes to their county fair. Year after year, the annual fair at Heber City is one of Central Utah’s celebration highlights. “I have been led to understand that tomorrow you are going to graduate. Well, my strong recommendation is that you on’t 0. Stop. Go back to your rooms, GnEack! There’s not much out ere.” -Author George Plimpton, addressing this year’s Harvard graduating class. “This Supreme Court opinion is a historic victory for the public’s right to know how this nation is governed and reaffirms the First Amendment principle that government officials . . . remain accountable to the people and to history for their acts in office.” -Statement by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, Iauding the High Court’s decision to give the U.S. custody of former President Nixon’s papers. The traditional exhibits are there – home arts, livestock, horticulture, farm Woducts hobbies, 4-H etc. But asatch County Fairs are strong on entertainment also, with parades, horse races, rodeo, and a lot more. The 1977 edition of the fair will be Aug. 1-6 and we recommend that you circle those dates. Entertainment activities to augment the exhibits, judging, and other activities associated with the fair proper will include the following; Rodeo, Aug. 5-6 at the Wasatch County Fair grounds, with grand entry at 8 o’clock each evening ; two parades Aug. 5 and 6 beginning at 6 p.m. through Heber’s Main Street ; demolition derby Aug. 3 at the fairgrounds arena ; talent show Aug. 4 at Wasatch High Auditorium ; track and field competition for men and women over 30 Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. at Wasatch High track; all-breeds horse show Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds arena open to Wasatch County residents only; horse races Aug. 5 and 6 at the Heber race track, with post time at 1 p.m. With all, the Heber City event amounts to quite a celebration worthy of your attention and support.
